Dr. Dharia is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of Pharmacy in the Department of
Pharmacotherapeutics and Clinical Research. She currently teaches the geriatrics and the clinical research topics
in the curriculum.
Prior to joining USF College of Pharmacy, she completed her Doctor of Pharmacy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy in 2010. Her PhD is in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a focus in G eriatric Pharmacotherapy. Her dissertation was on the functional, behavioral, and cognitive outcomes associated with the concomitant use of anticholinergic and acetylcholinesterase medications in patients with dementia. In addition, she earned a post-baccalaureate degree in Aging Studies while at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. She completed a 16-month post-doctoral appointment at the Byrd Institute on the University of South Florida campus under the guidance of Dr. Chad Dickey, an Alzheimer’s disease researcher and expert in 2012.
Her research interests and experience are in the areas of inappropriate medications in the geriatric population, prostate cancer, medication-related problems, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, substance abuse and psychiatric disorders in older adults.
